Massage is one of the oldest forms of treatment. Massage acts on the body as a mechanical irritation, caused by such techniques as stroking, rubbing, kneading and vibration.

The effect of the massage is based on humoral reflex processes regulated by the central nervous system. The processes are complemented by local reactions in the tissues, which are the main mechanical effects of massage. The massage also affects the organs and organ systems that are associated with the reflector. Bleeding is encouraged by increasing exposure, toning muscles, normalizing or improving body functions in various situations. An adequate response to massage is a pleasant sensation of tissue warming, pain relief, and general well-being.
