April 26, 2011 – Starting from May MFD Outpatient Hospital „Pardaugava” in Riga, Vienibas gatve 109 offers consultations of the certified surgeon oncologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases (mammologist) prof. Gennady Trofimovich.
The main diseases this specialist deals with are mastopathy, fibroma, cysts, lactostasis and mastitis. Most of them, revealed at an early stage can be successfully treated.
Unfortunately, during recent years the number of diseases is increasing. This stems from bad ecology, pernicious habits, and stress. It is very important not to postpone the visit to the specialist physician, if the signs of breast diseases appear.
Frequency of visiting mammologist depends on age, heredity, gynecological problems and complaints. Women over 30 with no complaints should attend a specialist once in 1.5 years, but after 40 – as well have a mammography.
In case of mastopathy the doctor should be visited more frequent – 1-2 times a year. Women in the group of risk should have a visit every six months. This group includes women with gynecological or thyroid diseases, who have cancer patients among relatives, nulliparous, or those, who gave birth after 35 years, who take or planning to take oral contraceptives.

In addition, the doctor is the Associate Professor of Riga Stradina University Surgery department and the lead researcher of Cancer Institute.
