Hatha yoga at MFD: Harmony and individual approach

August 7, 2012 – Starting with August MFD Outpatient hospitals “Ilguciems” and “Pardaugava” offer a new service for its clients – hatha yoga classes. This kind of yoga focuses on putting to order the physical body in order to prepare it for deeper practices such as meditation.

„Hatha Yoga is a more advanced type of yoga, because it is equally available both for those, who wish to go further in spiritual development, and for those, who perceive yoga as sport and fitness” – explains Veronika Dzibuti, the yoga consultant and the student of the European academy of Tibetan medicine and yoga. - “We are like cars, which start breaking down and become rusty over the years. In order the car to work for a long time, not being repaired often, we have to implement its regular check-ups and take care of it. Regarding our body yoga works the same as a caring owner and a regular service for the car”.

Hatha yoga has plenty of pluses. Losing weight and getting fit are not the main ones. Hatha yoga is a very logical service for the outpatient hospital, because it does heal and renew our body being slowly “killed” by lifestyle day after day. The main attention is paid to the spine – our foundation! The most of hatha yoga asana (postures) are oriented to its health. Breathing exercises help our nervous system to relax, because its excessive load often causes many diseases.

That is why yoga works as prevention of many kinds of diseases. Yoga improves functioning of digestive and hormonal systems. „I myself, as a former artistic gymnast, have experienced the advantages of yoga. Gradually, the pain from my back and neck being injured during many years of trainings has gone. So I can certainly recommend people to try yoga. And then - who knows, maybe you would like to continue. Yoga makes us more positive and helps to open up to the world” – said Veronica.

Yoga individual classes offered by MFD Outpatient hospitals “Pardaugava” and “Ilguciems”, allows the trainer to find out “the past” of a client’s spine and other problems that have brought him/ her to the class. Afterwards the consultant is able to identify and offers practices, aimed at his/ her health improvement.

The cost of one class is 20 Ls. It is possible whether to have it individual or to come with up to three friends. The maximum number of people in the class is four. That is why the coach is able to pay attention to each person.

• Tuesdays 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm;
• Thursdays 10:30 am – 11:30 am.
