November 21, 2012 – In the context of the campaign „Have
a health check-up, the state pays!” organized by the Ministry of Health and the
National Health Service, MFD Healthcare Group offers free of charge preventive
health check-ups, aimed at early detection and prevention of breast, cervical
and colon cancer.
Starting from 2009 there has been implemented cancer early detection program in
Latvia, which includes:
- Preventive check-up of the cervix (Pap smear) for women aged 25 - 70 years
once in three years, presenting the invitation letter of the National Health
Service;
- Preventive breast check-up (mammography) for women aged 50 - 69 years once in
two years, presenting the invitation letter of the National Health Service;
- Preventive check-up of the colon (home test) for men and women, starting from
50 every year, turning to your GP.
Despite the fact that at an early stage cancer may have no symptoms and the fact
it is successfully treated exactly at an early stage, only less than 25% of the
target audience are using the opportunity of having a free diagnostics.
