In recent years demand for services of diagnostics has grown; patients are increasingly directed to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to obtain an image of the internal organs and the body, which helps to diagnose potential diseases.
In the sequel of development and improvement of the availability of diagnostic services, MFD Healthcare Group has opened already second modern office for MRI examinations in the premises of the MFD Outpatient hospital «Pardaugava» in Riga, Vienibas gatve 109. MRI equipment Siemens Magnetom Essenza A TIM + DOT System, 1.5 Tesla, that is characterized by innovative coil technology, making the investigation process easier and faster, is placed in the new MRI room.
What is magnetic resonance imaging, and for what purpose is it used?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a modern, safe, informative method of visual diagnostics. By using radio waves of a powerful magnetic field, which is created by the MRI equipment, images of the body and organs are made. Unlike the widely used computer tomography (CT), this method is more precise and provides more detailed information.
The following organs are examined by using MRI:
- head;
- soft tissues of the neck;
- chest;
- organs of the abdomen and pelvis;
- system of bile tract;
- spine;
- bone joints.
During the procedure of MRI, the patient is placed in a special device that creates a strong magnetic field and emits radio waves that the patient receives and radiates back later. Using special algorithms, the device produces a picture. Examination of MRI is not painful or unpleasant for the patient. The procedure can take quite some time – from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. A significant advantage of MRI – radiation caused by the device is not harmful to the human body.

Examination results clients will be able to get recorded on a disc (CD). In addition MFD Diagnostics offers consultations of the practicing radiologist to achieve the best results and patient satisfaction.
