This test is especially intended for people who are exposed to stress every day, who have a sedentary work, who smoke, who have an increased body weight or high blood pressure and/or cholesterol levels.
More about cardio service package examinations:
- The initial cardiologist consultation includes full medical examination of the patient with all body system examinations (not only the cardiovascular system). Cardiologist will get acquainted with the patient's medical records (previous examinations, electrocardiograms, outpatient medical cards, etc.) – all this needs to be taken with you. After examining the patient, the cardiologist discusses with patient the possible diagnosis and develops a plan of diagnostic measures; most cardiologic diseases require immediate treatment, in which case the cardiologist will identify the necessary procedures in the first consultation without waiting for the results of cardiac examinations.
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test whose record allows you to obtain valuable information about the heart's condition; this method records and graphically depicts on a display or paper the electronic potential of heart that occurs during cardiac activity. ECG is an electronic record of cardiac activity that is performed on the surface of the patient's body (upper and lower extremity, and thoracic). ECG record takes about 10 minutes.
- Veloergometry – an ECG record on a background of physical activity; Is carried out on a special bike – veloergometer. The method makes it possible to assess the cardiovascular response to physical activity, body resistance level during the load, to detect episodes of myocardial ischemia, including painless; the method is used to diagnose heart ischemic diseases, treatment tactics and efficacy.
- Echocardiography is an ultrasound examination method that can detect congenital and acquired heart diseases, evaluate cardiac structures and their functional status. The method is harmless, painless and very informative.
- Blood tests determine: cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose.
- In a repeated consultation cardiologist evaluates patient's examination data, clarifies the diagnosis and risk of cardiovascular complications, re-examines the patient, evaluates the treatment efficacy and safety, and makes corrections. If necessary, the cardiologist instructs patient on using cardiovascular drugs: many cardiologic agents act on vital parameters of the body (arterial blood pressure, heart rate and blood clotting), and their uncontrolled use is dangerous. The doctor discusses the patient's expected treatment results, as well as possible side effects and advises on eating habits and lifestyle corrections.
Before veloergometry examination, some conditions must be observed:
- One day prior examination medication cannot be taken (except for diabetes). In case of chronic heart disease, all medications should be taken as usual. Take a list of all actual medication and dosage quantities to the examination;
- Do not eat or smoke 2-3 hours before examination;
- Take comfortable clothing (sports trousers or shorts), footwear with a solid base (sneakers, sports shoes);
- If you have a cold (fever, cough, runny nose, etc.), then it is better to postpone examination to another date.
