A new room of Magnetic resonance imaging at MFD Diagnostics

In the continuation of development and improvement of the availability of diagnostic services, MFD Healthcare Group opened a new, modern office for MRI examinations in the premises of the MFD Diagnostics in Riga, Aglonas Str. 6.
The demand for services of diagnostics had grown in recent years. Patients are increasingly directed to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which helps doctors to diagnose potential diseases.
What is magnetic resonance imaging, and for what purpose is it used?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a modern, safe, informative method of visual diagnostics. By using radio waves of a powerful magnetic field, which is created by the MRI equipment, images of the body and organs are made. This method is very precise and provides detailed information.
The following organs are examined by using MRI:
- head and brain;
- soft tissues of the neck;
- organs of the chest;
- organs of the abdomen and pelvis;
- system of bile tract;
- spine and spinal cord;
- bone joints.
During the procedure of MRI, the patient is placed in a special device that creates a strong magnetic field and emits radio waves. Using special algorithms, the device produces a picture.
Examination of MRI is not painful or unpleasant for the patient. The procedure can take from 20 minutes to half an hour. A significant advantage of MRI - radiation caused by the device is not harmful to the human body.
The official opening of the MRI cabinet will be held on 22 May, 2015 at 13:00, in Riga, Aglonas Str. 6.
At the opening ceremony in particular are invited general practitioners and specialists to introduce to the new MRI device Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1,5 Teslai, as well as to modern office for a magnetic resonance examination.
New device for MRI Magnetom Essenza A TIM + DOT System, 1.5 Tesla, differs from others by innovative technology of the coil, it makes the process of examination easier and faster.

In turn, the examinations will be carried out starting from May 25.
Magnetic resonance imaging is available as a paid service, as well as state-funded service. In order to get an MRI examination as a state-funded service, or to cover the costs with an insurance policy, you need a referral from specialist. If the patient wants to undergo a preventive examination for a fee, the referral is not required.
In addition MFD Diagnostics offers consultations of the practicing radiologist for the convenience of the patient.
